A Dog Friendly Trip To Hotel Endsleigh

We all love our pooches but we adore our holidays, too. Equally, isn’t it always heartbreaking to leave them behind? Well, forget those sad puppy eyes and take them on a jaunt with you for the perfect, dog-friendly getaway…

Of course, it can be a little tricky to find the right balance between finding the best destination to keep everyone happy, whilst getting your style fix. Thankfully, PetsPyjamas have got this travel conundrum covered, with a plethora of super-chic destinations that you and your fluffy friend will fall head over heels for.

We recently took a PetsPyjamas trip to the beautiful Hotel Endsleigh in Devon, bringing along TSL’s resident pooch, Archie, for the countryside ride. The vibe at this Grade I listed house, which was originally the home of the Duke of Bedford, and now owned by Olga Polizzi, is nothing short of magical. From its never-ending woodland trails and mysterious grottos to the acres of gardens bursting with blooms and its secret Tamar Valley location, we fell under Endsleigh’s charming spell from the moment we arrived.

Our room provides the perfect retreat after a long walk spent exploring the stunning arboretum and vast grounds. Think antiquities, Narnia-esque wardrobes, huge leaded windows, complete with white wooden shutters and botanical accessories. But for us, the most luxurious and exciting element came from the show-stopping bathroom. The roll-top bath, marble touches, monsoon shower, REN beauty products and gleaming white robes with the statement, emerald green, embroidered ‘E’ took our relaxation scale to a whole new level.

Tired out after much sightseeing and sniffing, Archie loved his new digs and was calm and happy throughout. You see, Hotel Endsleigh treat their canine guests just the same as any other visitor. Plus, if you’re weighed down with luggage, the friendly staff will even provide pet beds and bowls.

After a very deep sleep, we skipped down to breakfast and enjoyed al fresco eggs benedict on the terrace, before another leafy walk and an outing to the neighbouring market town of Tavistock to explore the boutiques and winding streets.

There are plenty of extra details that make this historic spot special, including a weather forecast for your stay, fruit baskets with champagne on request and detailed suggestions for things to do (next time we’re heading to Dartmoor National Park and the coastal routes). But Hotel Endsleigh and PetsPyjamas have already got the perfect pet/owner formula just right, for a stress-free, idyllic escape from the daily grind. Because we’re all fond of the finer things in life and that includes our loyal companions.

Enjoy a seasonal picnic with a (min) 2 night mid-week stay and guidance on local walks. From £190 B&B per night (based on 2 adults and 1 dog sharing).
