Palm Springs is and always has been synonymous with style. A hot spot for Hollywood celebrities since the 1920s, Palm Springs oozes glamour and sophistication with some of the world’s most famous actors and musicians residing there, from Frank Sinatra to Elvis Presley. Envisage David Hockney's swimming pools, the cloudless skies and crisp blue water surrounded by tall palm trees, among mid-century modern architecture. Heaven, right?
Luckily for us, we can channel a little Palm Springs in our own homes, as there are some amazing high street pieces out there at the moment that encompass this style. From the tropical trend to sleek minimal muted tones, brass accents and unique antique finds, inject glamour and recreate some of the most iconic Californian looks in your own space.

The Kaufmann House, designed by architect Richard Neutra in 1946. Neutra was at the forefront of modern residential architecture at the time. This house certainly wouldn’t look out of place if built today! Image: Poolside Glamour by Slim Aarons | ArtRepublic.com SHOP

The home of Interior Designer Pjetur Sigurdson, the house was built in 1969 and Sigurdson and his partner took it over and transformed it in 2012. There aren't so many rules to follow with this trend as these homes are normally made up of a mix of styles, colours and textures, but I have chosen five key elements, which you won’t want to leave out.

Inject colour and don’t hold back on this one, whether it’s making the most of architectural details or adding a statement chair, make sure you make it bold and intense.

Whether it’s palm prints, geometrics or abstract marks, every Palm Springs home has room for a bold wall. Don’t limit this trend to the larger spaces either, use in a WC or guest bedroom to create a ‘wow’ space for family and friends to enjoy. Here are some of my favourite wallpaper prints for you to try.
