There are candles and then there are Baobab Collection luxury candles. Exquisite in design, scents to-die-for, beautiful glass, often oversized with seven wicks, completely fabulous, and in many seriously A-list homes.
Their latest limited edition home fragrance collection, inspired by the Disco era, includes diffusers and candles named S54, Gloria, Donna, Diana and Tina, all housed in an amazing rainbow of handmade, metallic glass. It’s fair to say we want them all, so we caught up with the creative mind behind the brand, Corinne Bensahel…
I open my eyes... give a kiss to the men of my life and look at a picture of my children when they were 3 and 5, they live in California now. I try to live everyday like it was the last day of my life... I try to show my love and passion.
The first thing I do is... jump in for a quick shower with my NUXE shower cream, which smells delicious.
Breakfast includes... strong coffee, Poilane bread, Pradier butter and orange marmalade. Oh, and a lot of butter. I am French, I cannot live without butter.
My journey to work is... when I stay in Belgium, very busy but full of surprises. When I’m on a working trip, I have to go to the museum and concept store to feed myself.
A typical working day begins with… I don't have a routine, I love unexpected things, but of course, like everyone the first thing I do is open my emails.
I'm in charge of... artistic direction, marketing strategy, merchandising and development.
Inside my desk draw you'll find... Coloured pencils, chocolates, crocodile Haribo candy, love notes that I am writing and never sending, notebooks with sketches in and magazine pages that inspire me.
My favourite lunch spot is... In Belgium, Tero near my office. In London, Nobu. In Paris, the Prince de Galles - the decoration is amazing. In New York, the Owl in the West Village and the Baccarat Hotel, uptown in front of the MOMA museum.
I beat the 4pm slump by... if I can, with a chocolate eclair.
My bedtime beauty essential is... perfume, I never go to bed without perfume.
A tip to get ahead in your career? My only advice is to keep an endless curiosity and to accept, as a woman, that we have in fact more than one career. It is always important to stay positive and open to opportunities...
